Bowen Yang (Wicked) and Oscar nominee Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon) star in Andrew Ahn’s hilarious update of Ang Lee’s 1993 classic, a joyful comedy of errors about a chosen family navigating the disasters and delights of family expectations, queerness and cultural identity.
Lesbian couple Lee (Gladstone) and Angela (Kellie Marie Tran) are struggling to fund another round of IVF. Meanwhile, their friend Chris’s (Yang) wealthy boyfriend Min’s (Han Gi-chan) US visa is due to expire. He and Angela arrive at a quid pro quo solution – a green-card marriage in exchange for cash – but their plans to elope are entirely upended when Min’s grandmother (Oscar nominee Youn Yuh-jung – Minari) arrives, surprising them with plans for an extravagant wedding banquet.
