In a Mexican border town plagued by drug cartels, corruption and violence, a frustrated teacher tries a radical new method to unleash the curiosity, potential, and maybe even genius of his students. Absent funding and resources, Sergio (Eugenio Derbez) uses novel and unorthodox methods to engage his students, encouraging them to think independently, grow their confidence and dream of different lives.

Based on a true story (covered in a 2013 Wired article), Christopher Zalla’s funny, touching and tremendously uplifting comedy-drama won the ‘Festival Favourite’ award at Sundance Film Festival.
