Luigi Boccherini – String Quartet in D major, G.165, Op.6 No.8
Enrique Granados – Piano Trio, Op.50
Interval
Felix Mendelssohn – Octet in E-flat major, Op.20
A programme that brings together music shaped by place, tradition, and youthful brilliance. Boccherini, an Italian who made Spain his home, infused his String Quartet in D major with the dance rhythms of his adopted country. Granados’ Piano Trio offers a later Romantic perspective, full of expressive melodies and rich textures that evoke the spirit of Spanish folk music.
After the interval, Mendelssohn’s Octet brings the evening to a lively close – a work of remarkable craftsmanship and vitality, balancing symphonic sweep with chamber intimacy.
